Beautiful weekend in West Yellowstone. We got 2nd place in the 12 dog 32 mile (per day) race.
Jerry arrived on Thursday of the week past in the small town of West Yellowstone. The weatherman was calling for minus 2 temps with 100% humidity. For once, he was not to far off.
The town welcomes this race in full force. Approximately 4o musher lined up, some decked to hills with holiday decoration to participate in the ”Winter Carnival.” Or at least that is what Jerry is thinking it might be called… lol
Great to see old friends and meet new ones. Mr. Soot went to live with Mr. Bilbo in Gamble, WA at Laura Daugereau’s kennel. She is a distance musher, who has run the Iditarod and competes in many distance races around the country. www.nightrunnerkennel.com
Now it is back to training runs at 27 miles per day with the race team, yearling included. Last night the kennel was a little noisy. The six month old pups are now big dogs. They have their own hay filled house’s, water and feed bowls. This also means they had to sleep all by themselves last night. Little Miss Glady was the only one to have a problem, crying throughout the night. Sorry to the neighbors.
The dogs are all looking really good and loving that it is “THE SEASON,” mushing (mooshing - translation for the Magnussons) season that is.
Next race…maybe the Flat Head in Montana on January 6 – 8 2012. And of course, the Stage Stop starting on January 27 of 2012.
All our best to you and your family this Holiday Season!
great job ..looking good..mia;s mom
Thank you, we sure miss your daughter, Jerry
I found your kennel while browsing through Sled Dog Central’s classified ads (the ad for your dog box). I visit your site often for inspiration. I love you music video and the story of how you changed your life when you turned forty and how you both work together to care for the dogs. All good stuff. I live on Casper Mountain just South of Casper, WY. We have an annual dog sled race, Canines for Charity. This will be my first year as a racer – if that’s what you would call someone with a kick sled a terrier mix and a labrador retriever! Still, we go out everyday and learn everyday. Maybe a race sled and a team will be the next step, it does seem to be an addictive. Your dogs are beautiful, congratulations on winning second place and for being brave enough to chase your dreams. I look forward to hearing more and wish you both the best. Happy Holidays.
It has ben several years since we attended that race. What fun it is. So glad you are going to attend as a contestant, good luck to you.
If you are ever in Lander please look us up and come see the dogs
Happy training,
Merrry Christmas,
Live your dreams!! Jerry

Happy Holidays to the two of you! I was just talking about you today Ms. Kati. I did not get cards in the mail this year again. We have approx. a foot of snow and more coming throughout the night. Oh Boy! Jerry and the dogs are in heaven. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! We sure hope you and Paul celebrate this glorious season with much love and happiness. You are always in our hearts. Love Jerry and Sandy
Looks like your off to a good start. I cheer you on at each race remembering the few I have been to. If I lived closer I’d attend more. Love,Mom
